About This Site
Hello! Lab is a database for exploring Hello! Project members and groups. It is designed to answer questions such as “Were these two members from the same generation?” right when they come to mind.
What You Can Do
- Compare two members — Select two people and compare their group generation, audition cohort, trainee generation, and debut year.
- Explore by debut year — See everyone who debuted in the same year.
- Explore by trainee generation — Browse generations from the Hello Pro Egg era through today’s Hello Pro Kenshusei.
- Explore by debut group — See which group each member started with.
- Browse a group’s member history — Members are grouped by the generation in which they joined.
Why We Use Four Meanings of “Same Generation”
In Hello! Project, the idea of being from the same generation can refer to more than one relationship:
- joining the same group in the same generation, such as two Morning Musume. 9th-generation members;
- entering Hello! Project through the same audition;
- joining Hello Pro Kenshusei in the same trainee generation; or
- debuting in the same year.
These relationships sometimes overlap and sometimes do not. Akane Haga and Musubu Funaki both joined the 20th trainee generation, but their debuts were one year apart: Morning Musume. in 2014 and Country Girls in 2015.
There are also pairs who debuted in the same year but are not generally described as generation-mates. Morning Musume.’s 9th and 10th generations both debuted in 2011, but their group generations are different.
Hello! Lab keeps all four axes separate and tells you exactly where two members match. When two members share a debut year but belong to different generations of the same group, the result explains that distinction.
No Member Photos
This site does not publish photos of members. People are identified with circles that combine their family name and member color.
About the Data
We verify public information from official websites and other sources one item at a time. We do not fill gaps with guesses; unverified fields are marked “Not Yet Verified.”
